Let the hands have a turn.
Some children understand a thing once they can touch it, build it, break it, taste it, or see what happens when they try. This is our growing list of experiences that make room for that kind of learning.
Make
Blow glass. Build a robot. Work with wood, fabric, clay, or whatever refuses to stay theoretical.
Tend
Keep bees. Harvest oysters. Make cheese. Notice what care asks of us over time.
Explore
Forage for mushrooms, dig for fossils, learn to sail, or figure out how to move safely through the wilderness.
The point is not to make every outing sound educational.
Sometimes the point is that a child got to be interested in something long enough to find the next question. We will share what we try, what we learn, and what simply turns out to be a good day.
